BP has been exploring Bolivia since 1999. Our core business is in the areas of oil and gas exploration and production and we have two significant business ventures in the Southern Cone. One of these is Empresa Petrolera Chaco (Chaco) in Santa Cruz where Pan American Energy (a joint venture in which BP has a 60% stake and the Bridas Corporation 40%) and the Bolivian Pension Funds are partners. Together we are one of the key players in the country's exploration and production business, a major provider of liquefied petroleum gas, and a significant gas supplier. Chaco was formed in 1997 and is dedicated to the exploration and production of hydrocarbons. The second venture is a 25% Pan American Energy share in the Caipipendi block, which contains the Margarita gas discovery with significant reserves. Air BP has also seen good growth. It operates refueling facilities at Bolivia's 15 airports, which handle around 39 million US gallons per year. Air BP has exclusive marketing rights in Bolivia until 2022.
