Common Stock
A unit of ownership in a Corporation.
    
A Security representing partial ownership, also called Equity, in a Corporation, and which entitles shareholders to participate in stockholder meetings and to vote for the board of directors is called a common stock. Common stockholders participate in the Corporation's profits or losses by receiving dividends and by capital gains or losses in the stock's share price.
