Preferred return
This is the minimum amount of return that is distributed to the limited partners until the time when the General partner is eligible to deduct carried Interest.

The preferred return ensures that the General partner shares in the profits of the partnership only after investments have performed well.

Carried  Interest is  the share of profits that the fund manager is due once it has returned the cost of investment to investors.
