Spin-out firms
These are captive or semi-captive firms that gain independence from their parent organizations.
    
Creation of  a new, independent company created through selling or distributing new shares for an existing part of another company. Spin out happens when a division of a company or organization becomes an independent business. The "spin out" company takes assets, intellectual property, technology, and/or existing products from the parent organization.
