Baker & McKenzie's Buenos Aires office has been part of the Argentine legal and business communities for more than 20 years, ranking as one of the city's largest law firms. Working with the Firm's worldwide network, we offer clients a full range of legal services-whether they are domestic companies doing business abroad or international clients doing business in Argentina. Our legal team is recognized as one of the leaders in representing clients on domestic and international tax, litigation, corporate, real estate, security transactions, banking and finance, labor, and other areas of law. Our corporate/commercial practice is noted particularly for work in cross-border M&A. The team's successes in the telecoms, e-commerce, and banking sectors have gained the trust of such clients as Procter & Gamble, which we represented in its multi-jurisdictional acquisition of 50 percent of a paper products company in Chile and Argentina. We provide day-to-day advice and handle every aspect of legal work for the majority of our corporate clients, counsel on issues of corporate paper, represent majority shareholders, defend the rights of minority shareholders, and litigate boards of directors' liability and removal. A significant aspect of the practice involves helping clients structure new business ventures in Argentina, as well as reorganize, restructure and liquidate companies and branches. Likewise, our banking and finance practice has a strong reputation earned through our work in regulatory advice, syndicated loans, project finance, stock option plans, placement of securities, and global custody agreements. For example, our legal team represented the arranger in a $1.2 billion syndicated loan to Cablevisión, and advised the Central Bank of the Republic of Argentina on structuring the security net for Argentina's monetary system conversion. Our communications practice has distinguished us as one of the major players in e-commerce and telecoms. We advise Internet clients on privacy rights, stock swaps, tax planning, and finance negotiation, representing such dot.com clients as Latinstocks on its $10 million restructuring and Miami-based Terramark on its acquisition of a local branch of Spectrum Telecommunications. |
