Bank of Eastern Oregon

Mission statement:

Bank of Eastern Oregon was established to meet the financial needs of the communities, the businesses, and the citizens it serves.  We will offer products that meet the financial needs of our customers that are consistent with safe and sound banking practices.

Bank of Eastern Oregon's most important asset is its customers.  The Bank's products are designed to meet the needs of our customers and our employees are hired to meet the needs of customers.  High quality customer service is the primary mission of this bank.

Another important asset of the bank is its employees.  Without motivated, dedicated, and responsible employees, it would be impossible for the bank to render high quality customer service.  All bank employees will be given training and educational opportunities.  All will be given an equal opportunity and a fair wage regardless of race, color, sex, age, or physical condition.

As a percentage of loans, the bank is the #1 Ag bank in the State of Oregon.  Currently, the bank has twelve branch offices located in:  Arlington, Boardman, Burns, Condon, Fossil, Heppner, Ione, Irrigon, John Day, Moro, Prairie City, and Enterprise.  Two loan production offices are located in Hermiston, and Ontario, Oregon.

Bank of Eastern Oregon is in the business to make a profit for its shareholders.  A third mission of this bank is to maximize its sustainable earnings.  We want to maximize the total earnings of the bank over the long term.  This means that a mission for all bank employees is to operate the bank as efficiently as possible.  Efficient operations and quality services are the two missions that will generate the profits expected by the stockholders.

Bank of Eastern Oregon is a responsible citizen and a business leader.  The bank takes its citizenship duties seriously. We will not knowingly take actions that are adverse to the best interests of our communities, their businesses, or their families. We will not make profits at the expense of our citizenship responsibilities.
Overview:

Bank of Eastern Oregon was originally chartered in 1945 as the Gilliam County Bank, Arlington.  In 1957 and 1959, operations were expanded to Heppner and Ione with the bank changing its name at that time to Bank of Eastern Oregon.  Bank of Eastern Oregon is a state chartered independent community bank and intends to remain independent.

The bank currently has 397 shareholders with no one owning more than 10% of the bank's stock.  Since its inception, Bank of Eastern Oregon's primary mission has been to serve the agricultural banking needs of its customers.
History:

Just before the end of WWII, a group of forward-thinking farmers and ranchers in eastern Oregon saw a need for banking services in their region. Banding together with others, they formed the Gilliam County Bank in Arlington, Oregon, in February of 1945.

Since its inception, the focus of the bank has been to provide quality banking services to rural communities of eastern Oregon at a competitive price and to provide great customer service in that delivery.

In the late 1950’s the bank expanded, opening branches in Heppner and Ione. Shortly after that, the bank changed its name to Bank of Eastern Oregon and headquarters moved to Heppner, Oregon.

Branches were opened in Condon in 1995; Irrigon in 1998; and Boardman in 2000, as the bank positioned itself to remain an independent community bank entering the 21st Century.

In 2003, the bank took a giant leap forward with the purchase of branches from Klamath First in Burns, John Day, Prairie City, Fossil, Moro, Condon, and Heppner. This move solidified Bank of Eastern Oregon’s footprint in eastern Oregon with 11 branches in six counties.   In 2004, the bank opened its first Loan Production Office in Ontario, Oregon. In 2005, a Loan Production Office was opened in Hermiston, Oregon; in October 2008, the Enterprise Loan Production office converted to a full service branch.  Bank of Eastern Oregon is a full service community bank featuring local decision making and offering loans for commercial, agricultural, and consumer purposes. We have a state of the art Mortgage Division and an Investment Division for alternative investments. We offer a full array of business products and business cash management services, personal checking and savings products, debit and credit cards, merchant services, and wire services.
