Overview:

NCA is a Seattle-based private equity firm. Our mission is to acquire and build profitable middle market companies located in the Northwestern United States and Western Canada. NCA partners with proven management teams to grow business and industrial services companies located in our geographic area.

NCA is a leading provider of private equity capital to Northwest-based companies, having completed over $630 million in transaction value since 2004. NCA has consistently built value by making investments in leveraged buyouts, consolidations, recapitalizations and growth financings of smaller middle market companies, defined as companies with enterprise values generally from $50 to $500 million. NCA has establised a strong regional franchise based on its investment philosophy of partnering with management teams to acquire companies that provide opportunities where NCA can add value through its expertise and network. The NCA team brings to each investment opportunity its expertise in capital raising, operations, mergers and acquisitions, team building and corporate governance to source, grow, manage and eventually exit profitable middle market businesses.

The Firm has been active since 1992, and has completed over 95 acquisitions. The current team has been successfully investing together since 2004.

Target Investments

We invest in smaller middle market business and industrial services companies located primarily in the Northwest, generally with enterprise values of $50 to $500 million. We partner with dedicated management teams to help them attain the necessary resources to unlock the greater potential of their companies. In each situation, we customize a unique "buy and build” growth strategy, incorporating both organic growth and acquisition related growth.

The Northwest is an Attractive Region for Private Equity Investing

The Northwest (Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington) is a highly attractive and generally under-represented region for private equity investing. The Northwest is a large, diverse and growing economy. Taken as a whole, this economy represents the 10th largest economy in the world. Washington State and the Canadian Provence of Alberta are the largest economies in the Northwest.

Businesses domiciled in the Northwest have relatively few regionally based choices for private equity capital. NCA has completed over 30 acquisitions in the Northwest representing over $1.3 billion in transaction value. Given the history in the Northwest, NCA is one of the most active and successful investors in the region.

The Smaller Middle Market Presents Unique Investment Opportunities

The smaller middle market represents a highly attractive market segment, which NCA believes drives superior returns due to the ongoing inefficiencies inherent in many companies of this size. These inefficiencies provide NCA with incremental opportunities to add value to our portfolio companies above and beyond cash flow growth. For example, companies in the smaller middle market typically lack the broader access to capital and/or exposure to operational expertise that NCA provides. NCA’s investment strategy centers around adding value to its portfolio companies by capitalizing on one or more of these inefficiencies.
