Presence of, or an ability to attract and develop, a strong management team capable of executing the company's business plan and adapting it to address shifts in the competitive landscape.
Technological Advantages:
Proprietary, unique or disruptive technologies that attract strategic investors, create barriers to entry and enhance exit strategies.
Creates a Solution for the Market:
Fills a need in a growing market or provides a solution that creates a new market opportunity.
Ingrained Sense of Urgency:
A clear commitment to growth and success at all levels, supported by a capital structure that aligns the interests of management with those of the shareholders.
Saturn considers both domestic and international opportunities that fit our approach and expertise.
Common characteristics include a well designed, executable business strategy; a potential return on investment profile commensurate with the associated risks, as well as the cost of capital; and attractive and practical exit strategies.
Once it is determined that a plan meets our criteria, we perform extensive due diligence, which includes a thorough examination of the company's business plan, testing of financial models, industry research, management, customer, and supplier interviews. |

Saturn Capital, Saturn's broker-dealer affiliate, led its first private placement in 1994. Since then, we have privately placed securities for many successful companies in their earliest stages, including Constant Contact, Boston Duck Tours, FreeMarkets and Twin Rivers Technologies. Since Saturn's inception, we have privately raised over $70 million for more than 20 companies.
Saturn Partners Limited Partnership, a $25 million venture capital fund formed in April, 2000, focuses on early stage investments and special situation opportunities in electronic commerce, digital media, life sciences and telecommunications.
Saturn Management LLC serves as a manager for Saturn Partners Limited Partnership, Saturn Capital and other members of the Saturn group. Saturn Management also provides consulting and management services to early development stage companies, including Saturn's portfolio companies. |
