History:
Simmons & Company International was founded in 1974 by Matthew R. Simmons with the focus of providing financial advisory services to the growing energy service sector. From the very beginning, the business model was unique: to provide the highest quality financial advice focused entirely on one industry, and to remain independent. Our energy focus, dedication and unparalleled insight resulted in early success and growth. The firm grew to become the premier energy investment bank, as clients found us to be a reliable and trusted partner, particularly during industry downturns and where independent, unbiased advice was most critical.
Total Energy Coverage
With an established reputation for integrity and professionalism, we became a natural point of contact for companies and investors with an interest in energy, providing a foundation for expansion within the energy finance industry. The firm grew in the direction of opportunity, and at the request of its client base, increased its service lines, expanded into new energy sectors and built the business through the addition of international locations in key energy regions. This resulted in a growing client base and the development of invaluable relationships across the entire energy spectrum. Today, we are a full service investment bank with a broad and diverse customer base serving institutional investors, public and private companies and private equity firms. Our firm and its subsidiaries operate through four offices globally and have approximately 150 employees. Our investment banking team has completed nearly 1,000 transactions totaling over $185 billion in value. Our institutional research and sales and trading group cover approximately 130 energy companies and distribute research to over 500 institutional investors.

Simmons & Company International Limited
In 1999, Simmons & Company opened its first office outside of Houston and established Simmons & Company International Limited (SCIL) (Company Number SC190220) in Aberdeen. That company's corporate finance group specializes in advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and disposals to finance raising transactions, private placements and strategic advice.
In 2003, the firm opened an office in London and five years later, opened an office in Dubai.
Over the years, SCIL has advised on several of the highest profile transactions in the sector and in 2011 reached a milestone of $12 billion in total deal value.
Today, SCIL employs over 30 corporate finance advisors and industry professionals and approximately 50 employees throughout the firm's offices in the Eastern Hemisphere. |
