History:

Northern Massachusetts Telephone Workers Credit Union was founded in 1922 and only open to employees and retirees of the New England Telephone Company. After the breakup of AT&T in 1984, the credit union Board of Directors took proactive steps to ensure its future strength, growth, and prosperity by expanding the field of membership to include employees of the seven divested Bell companies (and their subsidiaries), employees of corporations whose primary business is within the communication industry throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and their families.

In 2005, the credit union was granted a community charter and changed its name to NMTW Community Credit Union. With a community charter, NMTW can now serve anyone that lives, works, or attends school in Middlesex or Essex Counties in Massachusetts, several cities and towns within Norfolk and Worcester Counties in Massachusetts, and Rockingham and Hillsborough Counties in New Hampshire.

As our membership has grown, our mission to provide exceptional financial solutions and extraordinary service has remained the same. For over 87 years, our members continue to enjoy higher rates on their savings, lower rates on their loans, and the knowledge that their hard-earned money is going to work for other credit union members and our community.
