East Boston Savings Bank

Mission statement:

We deliver valued financial services to satisfy lifetime needs by building relationships based on trust, efficiency and friendly service.
Overview:

East Boston Savings Bank is a Massachusetts chartered stock savings bank that operates 15 full-services locations in the greater Boston metropolitan area.  The Bank's primary market consists of Essex, Middlesex and Suffolk Counties,  Massachusetts.  The Bank has experienced significant growth in the past five years as five new branches were established in five new communities.  Communities served by EBSB include Danvers, East Boston, Everett, Lynn, Medford, Melrose, Peabody, Revere, Saugus, Wakefield and Winthrop.

In November 2009, East Boston Savings Bank received regulatory approval to proceed with the acquisition of Mt. Washington Cooperative Bank.  Mt. Washington, a 115 year old institution headquartered in South Boston, operates seven offices in South Boston, Dorchester and Jamaica Plain.

On January 4, 2010 the Secretary of the Commonwealth approved the Articles of Merger for EBSB and MWCB.  Mt. Washington Bank now operates as a division of EBSB, continuing to benefit the people of South Boston, Dorchester and Jamaica Plain, staffed by the dedicated employees their customers know and trust and bolstered by renewed capital strength.

As a result of the completed transaction, EBSB is now a twenty branch bank and the preeminent community bank based in Suffolk county; stronger and better due to that position in Greater Boston and the Bank's combined and deeply talented workforce.

Locations
We operate fifteen branch offices in the greater Boston area to points North. All branches are equipped with Automated Teller Machines (ATM).

Employment
We are always looking to expand our EBSB family with qualified prospects.

Community
EBSB is acutely aware of its civic and social responsibilities and endeavors to help people grow and prosper physically, emotionally and financially. Through monetary donations and via the East Boston Savings Bank Charitable Foundation, we support the activities of a wide variety of organizations in the area.

Investor Relations
In January 2008, our mid-tier holding company Meridian Interstate Bancorp, Inc. commenced listing on the NASDAQ Global Select Market and began trading under the ticker symbol "EBSB."
History:

In 1848 an area in East Boston called Noodles Island had grown from pastures and woodlands into a center of commerce highlighted by shipbuilding, carpentry, sugar refining and iron foundries.  Those early merchants and world-famous shipbuilders established East Boston Savings Bank to serve the growing various immigrant populations settling into East Boston neighborhoods.  The first meeting of incorporation was held on October 4, 1848.  To this day, EBSB has continually endeavored to uphold the principles and ideals its founders set forth.  As a major employer, and an integral part of the community, the Bank remains dedicated to fostering growth and prosperity in the communities it serves.
