Overview:

SEED Venture Finance manages SEED Ventures LP, a $20 million SBIC focused on investments in small and medium sized businesses in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

As an SBIC, SEED invests in companies that meet the SBA's definition of small businesses:
Net worth of $18 million or less
An average net income in the last two years of $7.5 million or less

SEED Venture Finance invests in companies with solid management, proven products and services and strong growth potential. SEED typically invests between $250,000 and $1.25 million in the form of subordinated debt with warrants. In certain situations, SEED will consider other investment structures including, equity, senior debt and royalty-based financing. SEED has relationships with other investors that allow it to accommodate larger transactions.

While SEED Venture Finance does not hold control positions, we do typically participate on the Board of Directors (either as a Director or an Observer) of each portfolio company and become an active partner with management. SEED professionals can apply a wealth of financial, management and investment experience in order to maximize the success of the businesses in which we invest. The Fund leverages this expertise and experience to ensure that portfolio companies achieve their growth objectives. SEED invests primarily in companies located in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, but will consider opportunities in other regions based on merit.
