Gilmer National Bank opened for business in 1901 as Farmers and Merchants National Bank. In 1979, the name was changed to more accurately reflect our role as a full service bank. Over the last 100 years, we have grown from a one-room bank in the corner of the courthouse, to the modern facility we have today. We are located at 900 North Wood in the hub of Gilmer, Texas. It is our privilege to service Upshur County and the surrounding areas. We are a strong and independent bank and are proud of our reputation as a solid and reliable institution. Our assets exceed $180,000,000 and we are well capitalized. In anticipation of future growth, a bank holding company, Gilmer National Bancshares, was formed in 1999 along with our website.
