Overview:

We're different because we recognize two major factors within the financial services industry. First, the fees charged by many mutual fund managers and professional money managers exceed the value they provide. Second, the compensation structure within most brokerage firms and financial planning firms creates conflicts of interest too great to be acceptable.

History:

In his letter to shareholders, world-renowned investment manager, Warren Buffet said, “the best way to own common stock is through index mutual funds.” Mr. Buffet made this statement in 1996, and today, reams of statistics support this claim.

In 2002, David Carter, now President and CEO of CARTER CAPITAL MANAGEMENT, concluded that true objectivity behind financial advice could only be found through the fee-only compensation arrangement. (A fee-only financial planner receives no commissions or compensation from outside parties which allows the firm's clients to be assured that the advice provided will have no other interest but their own).

It was that year that Mr. Carter founded CARTER CAPITAL MANAGEMENT and dedicated it to his clients' best interest: A financial planning firm built on the premise that "maximizing returns begins with minimizing costs." A firm that manages low-cost index funds, mutual funds and individual fixed income securites coupled with a fee-only compensation relationship.
