Pilgrim Bank

History:

The Early Days.
Pilgrim Bank was originally chartered as First Guaranty State Bank on April 11, 1911 with Mr. Sam Greer as president. Aubrey Swain served as assistant cashier, and directors were Phillip Dolinski, Charles Dorfman, Louie B. Hess, S. G. Boyd, J. M. Clark and J. L. Smith. Total assets of the newly organized financial house were $83,136.28. The bank was reorganized in 1926 as the First State Bank with Mr. R. A. Swain as president. He was president until 1968.

The Middle Years.
In 1968 Mr. Charles Winkle, Camp County attorney, became president and remained until 1969. It was then located at 120 Quitman Street in Pittsburg, Texas. The bank changed ownership in 1969 with Mr. Lonnie "Bo" Pilgrim becoming Chairman of the Board. The bank moved to its present location in Pittsburg at 237 Jefferson on June 18, 1971. In the summer of 1982 the main building was expanded and a mini-bank was added, complete with the first 24- hour Automatic Teller Machine in Camp County. Also added were five regular drive-through lanes, one commercial lane and a walk-up window. In 1984, the First State Bank had assets in excess of $41 million, having grown from slightly over $5 million in 1971.

Recent History.
NETEX Bancorporation, a one-bank holding company, was established in 1993 and acquired 100% ownership of the First State Bank on September 1, 1993. There are approximately 100 shareholders of the holding company with Mr. Lonnie "Bo" Pilgrim the principal shareholder. The name was changed from First State Bank to Pilgrim Bank in March 1997. In June 1997 Pilgrim Bank opened its first branch in a temporary building at 2401 South Jefferson in Mt. Pleasant. A permanent three-story banking center was opened at this location in December 1998. A second branch of Pilgrim Bank was acquired from First Federal Savings Bank of North Texas on December 31, 1997. This branch is located at 117 South Greer Boulevard in Pittsburg. The third branch of Pilgrim Bank (our second in Mt. Pleasant) is located at 112 West 16th Street in Mount Pleasant. The grand opening was May 6th, 2000.
