Overview:

We are an independent bank, locally owned and operated, with our main office located in Monticello, Illinois. We were chartered in 1945 and have continuously served our customers and communities since then.

In 1984, we formed our own one-bank, holding company, First State Bancorp of Monticello, Inc. Over time, we acquired two additional banks in Piatt County and two banks in McLean County.

Today, First State Bank has full service offices in Monticello, Champaign, Tuscola, Atwood, and Hammond. Our sister bank, First State Bank of Bloomington, serves its customers from its main office in Bloomington and its branch office in Heyworth.

Our strategic plan is to remain locally owned and independent. We believe that our structure enables us to provide the best possible service to our customers.

11/10/1945 Institution established. Original name: First State Bank Of Monticello
1/23/2002 Acquired The State Bank Of Hammond in Hammond, Illinois.
1/21/2004 Acquired First State Bank in Atwood, Illinois.
1/21/2004 Changed name to First State Bank
