Overview:

Mechanics Savings Bank is an FDIC insured savings bank chartered by the State of Ohio. Today, we stand as Richland County’s only locally owned bank. It is that unique "locally owned" status that allows us to say with enthusiasm, "The only one we answer to is you!" That phrase, our motto, originated over 30 years ago as an advertising jingle. With its timeless simplicity, it remains a hallmark of our independence.

Approximately 100 employees serve our customers from six offices in Richland County. The total assets are just over $300 million. A current Consolidated Statement of Condition is available in all office locations, or we would welcome the opportunity to mail one to you upon request.

History:

Mechanics was founded in 1886 with assets of approximately $60,000 and operated from a private office two evenings a week. Following four interim locations, Mechanics finally opened its permanent headquarters at 2 South Main Street in 1928. In addition, five banking offices have been established in prime locations at 971 Lexington Avenue (1965), 980 Ashland Road (1975), 2103 Park Avenue West (1981), 256 East Main Street in Lexington (1998), and 490 North Trimble Road (2009) to provide convenient service to our customers.
