The Farmers & Merchants Bank

Overview:

Farmers & Merchants Bank was founded in 1923 by a small group of Miamisburg business professionals whose philosophy was to establish a financial institution to provide basic banking services in a friendly and courteous manner. Its market was the residents and the small businesses who were often ignored by the area's larger banks. That simple philosophy and market remains the same 80 years later.

Farmers & Merchants Bank has steadily grown since 1923, enabling it to remain today as one of the last locally owned and independent banks in the area.  The growth and stability was the result of the local management's ability to recognize and meet the financial needs of the community.

The bank was originally located in the Stocker Building on South Main Street. In 1928, it relocated to a building on the Market Square, formerly occupied by Peoples Savings Bank. The bank was again moved in 1954 when it constructed the building it currently occupies at 41 South First Street. The building included Miamisburg's first drive-up teller window. In 1978, the bank built its full service branch at 3235 Alex-Bell Road in West Carrollton to service its West Carrollton and Moraine customers. In 2006, the Germantown branch at 2367 Beechwood Drive was opened to serve the Germantown, Carlisle and Farmersville areas.

Farmers & Merchants Bank is still a locally owned and independent community bank serving the general South Dayton area surrounding the Miamisburg, Germantown, and West Carrollton communities. The bank's management is made up of professionals who share the same vested interest in the growth and well being of the community. The bank invests deposits back into the local community in the form of loans to individuals for homes, autos, education and for other purposes to raise their standards of living; to businesses to buy new equipment or construct building additions resulting in new jobs for the community; and to local governmental bodies to provide better public services for its residents.

Farmers & Merchants Bank supports many civic, educational, and service activities though monetary donations and time volunteered by its employees to serve on various committees and boards.

Bank services have changed dramatically over the past 80 years. Daily check writing has been replaced by ATMs and debit cards. The 24-hour Automated Service Line facilitates a customer's ability to access his or her account information at the touch of a button. Credit cards and overdraft lines of credit have replaced the small consumer loan.

Although bank services have changed over the years, Farmers & Merchants Bank's philosophy has not. We're still your independent community bank providing convenient services to you, your friends and your neighbors. And we always remember to smile and say thank you for the trust you have placed in us as your hometown bank.
