History:
The Waterford Commercial and Savings Bank is located in beautiful southeast Ohio along the Muskingum River in Washington County. The bank was incorporated December 7, 1908, and was located in a large store building on Main Street next door to the first post office building. The Bank was then moved to a brick building in 1913 on the corner of Mill Street.
Officers of the bank in 1908 were: John Zumbro, President; Anus Lawrence, Vice President; Harry Crooks, Cashier; and Van W Welsh, Assistant Cashier. The directors of the bank were: M B Pugh, Chairman of the Board; E B Vincent, Director; D B Snodgrass, Director; G D Murdock, Director; Angus McDonald, Director; C C Middleswart, Attorney; and C Campbell, secretary.
At that time, 233 shares were sold at $100 per share.
Records of the banks proceedings were lost from 1917-1941. Earlier records show that Zumbro was president from 1908-11; A W Humphrey, 1911-?; D T Orndoff, 1930-53; F A Buchanan, 1953-61; L H Cronin, 1961-66; C T Wells, 1967-74; Dan Orndoff, 1974-82; George Summers, 1982-2003; and Robert Teters became chief executive officer in 2003.
Cashiers have been Harry Crooks, A E Roberts, W W Mason, Frank Ford, Charles Gadd, L H Cronin, Dan Orndoff, Roberta O'Leary, Robert Teters and today Loretta Murphy is cashier. Chris Combs is vice president.
In 1978, the bank moved to the corner of State Route 339 and Sunset Lane in Waterford. The bank was remodeled in 1995.
Directors are presently Steven Wainwright, Chairman of the Board; Doris Wainwright, Harold Tuten, Terry Lang, George Summers, and Robert Teters.
