Overview:

WEDGE Capital Management is dedicated to offering stable, diversified investment products in the equity and fixed income markets. Throughout our more than 25 year history, we've remained focused on value investing for institutional investors through the consistent application of our fundamentally-based, disciplined approach to the stock and bond markets. Our wide range of value products allows us to address the specific needs of our broad and sophisticated client base.

Today, we're owned by 8 active general partners and are characterized by our independence, stability and broad distribution of ownership. Our 25 investment professionals are supported by a staff of 18, all of whom are located in our Charlotte, North Carolina headquarters.

We follow a fundamentally sound, value-oriented investment discipline as we employ rigorous quantitative research along with thorough, independent, qualitative fundamental analysis. Our investment philosophy has been in place since our founding and has endured, regardless of the prevailing economic or market climate.

We focus primarily on identifying pricing discrepancies, earnings potential and unrecognized value among companies that typically boast market leading positions, superior financial quality, and durable competitive advantages. From there, we strive to add incremental value by overweighting or underweighting specific sectors of the market based on broader industry and economic factors. To ensure consistency and style integrity over time, we adhere to strong buy and sell disciplines.

History:

WEDGE Capital Management was founded in June 1984 by three investment professionals who previously managed the common trust funds of a local, nationally-oriented bank. WEDGE International Group, of Houston, provided initial venture capital funding. That venture capital position was retired in 1989 and WEDGE has been an independent investment advisory firm ever since. Today, we are legally structured as a North Carolina Limited Liability Partnership owned and operated by 8 General Partners.

Initially, WEDGE Capital Management offered clients Traditional Equity - Large Cap Value and Fixed Income investment strategies. Since then, we have steadily expanded our product offerings to include Small Cap Value, Mid Cap Value, Micro Cap Value, and our Quantitative Equity platform. We continue to carefully analyze market conditions and client needs in order to offer an appropriately wide range of products under the value equity and fixed income investment umbrellas.
