Established as a community foundation, Foundation For The Carolinas is a nonprofit corporation created by and for the people of the Carolinas. We are here to help individuals, families, nonprofits and corporations make a positive impact on their communities. As a public charity, the Foundation offers favorable tax treatment for gifts and a variety of giving methods to help people achieve their charitable goals.

Today, the Foundation is one of the largest community foundations in the Southeast and among the top 10 in the United States.

As of September 30, 2009, the Foundation financials are:
Total assets owned and represented: $724.2 million
Gifts: $63.2 million
Grant Distributions: $61.7 million

In a survey based on the 2007 financial data of the top 100 community foundations nationwide (the most current data available), Foundation For The Carolinas ranked 3rd in gifts received, 5th in grants paid and 10th in assets.
