History:

Citizens Bank was founded by William E. Harrington as a private bank in 1886. On June 1, 1892, the bank was incorporated in this community of 12,000 people located 60 miles west of the Twin Cities. With a history of good management, Citizens Bank has been a pillar of financial strength, even through two World Wars and the Great Depression.

Although the bank has retained its original location, it has grown along with the community. Assets of the bank today are $140 million, compared with $20 million in 1970. Since Citizens Bank was founded, it has had just five presidents: William Harrington; Helmuth Kurth; Irvin J. Burich; T.A. (Buzz) Burich and its current president Timothy B. Ulrich.

Citizens Bank has been integral to the economic development of Hutchinson, providing business loans, agricultural loans, home and personal loans, as well as all types of checking, savings and other financial products.

Focusing on the Hutchinson community, Citizens Bank has made significant contributions, both in terms of dollars, and in community service time and effort. While it has funded and supported numerous community projects, the bank has continued its prudent management and operating standards to insure its safety and soundness for the benefit of customers and the community. Citizens Bank considers this ability to operate prudently while maintaining high levels of customer and community support to be its greatest achievement.
