The Citizens State Bank of Olivia

History:

The Citizens 'National' Bank was organized in Olivia in June, 1927. The original incorporators of that bank were George Kircher, Frank Kircher and Henry Schroer.
The Kircher Brothers, George, Frank and Edward, came to Olivia in 1914 as drainage engineers and drained a large portion of Renville County making the land more usable and productive as farm land.
The bank operated under National Charter until April 6, 1936 when it was converted to a State Charter. The bank conducted business in the same building on the corner of Lincoln Ave. and 9th Street until it was moved this year (1968) to the new building.
George A. Kircher, Jerome's father, also was the incorporator of the Danube bank in 1935 and the bank at Redwood Falls in 1937. George died February 24, 1964, and Jerome Kircher was made president of the bank May 12, 1964.
