History:

OUR Beginnings…

Mayville Savings Bank opened its doors on February 1st, 1922. The Mayville Building & Loan, as it was then known, began operations for two reasons; to promote home ownership and to provide investors a means of saving by depositing small sums on an installment basis.

In the 1950s, Mayville Building & Loan joined the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. The Bank, at that time, changed its name to Mayville Savings & Loan, still retaining its mutual thrift charter.

In October of 1980, Mayville Savings moved to its new and present location at 200 S. Main Street. Assets at that time were just over $11 million.

At the Annual Meeting in January 1993, the Board of Directors voted to change the Association charter to a State Chartered Mutual Savings Bank. Mayville Savings and Loan Association became Mayville Savings Bank. It was the Board’s feeling that the change would allow the new Bank to expand its services and better serve its customers and community.

NOW…

The assets of Mayville Savings Bank have grown to over $45 million. With reserve capital of 11%, we are one of the strongest Banks in the country. We currently have 19 employees, up from just one in 1922.

Our building has recently been remodeled with a new drive-up facility and state-of-the-art teller windows in the lobby. The Bank also installed a large back-up generator to keep the Bank up and running during power outages.

Throughout our 87 year history, the various Boards of Directors felt it imperative to retain our mutual charter and remain independent. This allows us to stay focused on the needs of our customers and not maximizing profits. Serving customers and community will forever be the goal of Mayville Savings Bank.
