History:
Tomahawk Community Bank, SSB, as it is now known, has been an integral part of the Tomahawk community since March 29, 1920. Originally known as the Tomahawk Building and Loan, services were initially provided at 25 West Wisconsin Avenue, Tomahawk, and shared the building with the V.E. L’Abbe Insurance Agency.
Through the years, the Association had several “homes”. In addition to being located in the L’Abbe office, the bank also held office hours in the Hufschmid Service Station Building and in the American Legion Building. In 1956 it moved to 207 West Wisconsin Avenue, the former Service Drug Store Building and in November 1959 the Tomahawk Building and Loan moved to its new office at 209 West Wisconsin Avenue.
In 1960 the name changed to Tomahawk Savings and Loan and was chartered as a mutual state thrift institution.
In 1979, having a need for more space because of the growing business, a new facility was constructed at the current location of 15 East Wisconsin Avenue. Since 1979 several additions have been made to the original building.
In 1993, to better accommodate our customers, we changed our charter making us a state savings bank. As a result, we changed our name to Tomahawk Community Bank, SSB.
In the summer of 2000, we constructed our new 6 Lane Drive-up facility and in November 2003 completed our most recent addition to the facility which includes an upper level Professional Center with leased office space and a spacious Community Room for public use.
With overwhelming support from our depositors and the community, on February 26, 2007, the TCB Mutual Holding Company was approved. Forming a mutual holding company allows us greater flexibility to add products and services as well as raise equity capital which will provide us with additional funds to invest in the community all while retaining our mutual status.
Tomahawk Community Bank, SSB has been on the leading edge of offering all the financial services technology has to offer. We brought 24-hour electronic banking services to the area in 1992 with two automated Teller Machines (ATM) and added the third in 2000. We continue to look for new opportunities to bring state of the art financial services and convenience to the community, while maintaining the “personal”, “hometown”, level of service you’ve come to depend on.
We are happy to have been a part of many people’s dreams to own a home for so many years and to help small businesses prosper; it remains to be our focus in the community. Of course, we have branched out with many other avenues of caring such as the Golden Tomahawk Club, Kids and Teens Count programs, sponsoring of the Tomahawk Senior Shuttle, and supporting the SafeAssured Identification program.
