Pharos Holding for Financial Investments (Pharos Holding) is a Cairo-based, comprehensive financial services provider established in 2004. From the onset, the company was created to be specialized in financial advisory and private equity. Today it has evolved into a full -fledged financial services provider, offering securities brokerage, investment banking and asset management services to local, regional and institutional clients.

Pharos Holding provides tailored financial solutions to suit the individual needs of each of its clients, which are served through an expanding network of branches, which currently includes company headquarters in Zamalek and retail outlets in Mohandiseen, Nasr City and Shobra.

Chaired by Mohamed Taymour, a veteran of the regional financial industry, Pharos Holding comprises a strong team of highly educated and qualified professionals with a combined experience of over 80 years in the Egyptian stock market and with proven track records in both regional and international markets.

Pharos Holding acquired its asset management license in February 2008. Today the company controls a number of high net worth and institutional portfolios with EGP 500m under management. In July 2009, the Pharos Investment Fund Company launched a EGP 25.0m equity fund (Pharos I) which is managed by Pharos Asset Management.

Throughout 2008, Pharos Securities Brokerage obtained licenses for margin, intra-day trading and bookkeeping. Within a year of commencing its commercial operations in late 2006, the company's securities brokerage division's turnover ranked the company ninth on the Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX) in terms of market share. By the end of Q1 2009, Pharos Securities had risen to fifth in terms of both over the counter (OTC) and official market transactions at the end of Q1 2009.

During its first six months of operations, Pharos Investment Banking closed deals worth EGP 1.2bn which included being a sell side adviser in Abraaj Capital’s purchase of the Egyptian Fertilizer Company (EFC); a buy side adviser in the management buyout of Contact Cars (a leading retail financing company); and a buy side adviser in Solvay's acquisition of Alexandria Sodium Carbonate Company. By the end of 2008, the company had closed deals worth EGP 3.8bn with exposure to several sectors such as chemicals and fertilizers, consumer finance and real estate.

All of the company's divisions are supported by a world class research department that adheres to the highest of international standards. The in-depth publications list includes periodical, technical, sector and company reports. In January 2008, Pharos Research, in partnership with MSCI Barra, launched a 43-constituent index – the Pharos Egypt Index - which includes locally listed companies from across nine sub-sector indices.
