History:

The Ridgewood Companies is a leading private equity firm founded to meet specific sector objectives of institutional and high net worth investors. Ridgewood Energy, founded in 1982 by Robert E. Swanson, partners with the nation's leading energy companies in major oil and gas projects in the U.S. waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The Ridgewood Energy Funds own interests in 42 commercial discoveries, including 35 active oil and gas wells. In addition, these Funds own interests in 58 federal and state lease blocks in the Gulf of Mexico, totaling over 349 square miles.

In 1991, Ridgewood Renewable Power was established to manage a series of investment programs focused on the independent electric power generation industry. Ridgewood Renewable Power manages and operates renewable electric power infrastructure projects throughout the world, including hydroelectric, biomass and landfill methane gas facilities.

In late 1998, the Ridgewood Venture Funds were established to invest in early-stage technology and telecommunications companies. These funds were primarily invested in wireless, semiconductor and software companies. In late 2004, Ridgewood Capital sponsored private equity funds to invest in rapidly growing technology and energy technology companies. To date, four of Ridgewood Capital's Portfolio Companies have gone public, three of which were energy technology companies.
