Overview:
Established in 2001, Business Improvement Group Inc. (BIG) is one of the largest, full-service Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) consulting firms in Canada.
Our exceptional team of accounting professionals, technical engineers, and scientists provide our clients with a vast amount of collective knowledge, complemented by a wide range of technical expertise that includes, but is not limited to: chemical, mechanical, software, electronic, robotics, biological sciences, biotechnology, mining, pulp and paper, and environmental.
BIG team members hold memberships in various societies and professional associations, including: Society of Plastics Engineers, Professional Engineers of Ontario, Association of Professional Engineers and Geologists of the Province of Manitoba, and Society of Automotive Engineers.
Selected members of our team were invited and participated on committees that incorporated the Guidance Documents for CRA and the SR&ED program, which further supports our reputation as being a trusted and recognized leader that truly understands the SR&ED program and respects the processes used by CRA to administer it.

From our free eligibility assessment to the drafting of technical reports, from preparing and submitting the claim to ongoing consultation and support – we’ll do it all – diligently and expertly. To make things even easier, no budget needs to be set aside to retain our services, as we work on a contingency basis. We are not compensated until you receive your tax incentive.
During the SR&ED process, here are just some of the many services we will provide:
A free initial on-site assessment
Assignment of a dedicated Project Manager who will work with you and coordinate all activities throughout the project
Planning meeting where procedures, guidelines and expectations are established
Comprehensive analysis and review of projects and processes to determine SR&ED eligibility
Access to our time-saving SR&ED Manager®, our web-based application for tracking labour, expenses and documentation
Retrieval of all supporting documentation and technical information
Preparation of a Technical Report for each eligible activity, fully supported by detailed evidence
Stringent review and editing of all reports by senior BIG staff before final report is completed
Submission of final technical reports and a draft T661 to be used for filing your tax return
Support in understanding CRA correspondence related to SR&ED claims
Support of any report that may be subject to CRA review
Assistance and preparation assistance for any audit defense
Ongoing support to prepare for future project files to ensure all eligible activities are identified, claimed and supported
