The initials “PMA” are an acronym for "Prudent Man Analysis," a credit report created in the early 1980’s by Dr. Robert English, a former public funds officer. Using in-depth knowledge of the banking industry and fundamental analytic concepts, he developed the report to ascertain the health of financial institutions that were holding public deposits. Finance officials across the country utilized the analysis to protect precious public resources.
Seeing an opportunity to help public entities invest their funds more effectively, PMA evolved into a full service investment provider. The company adopted the name PMA Financial Network, and proceeded to develop an extensive network of financial institution trading partners, To this day, the company continues to utilize the Prudent Man Analysis concepts in analyzing the credit quality of bank investments.
