Overview:

At Blackdown Financial we trace our roots back to the late 1970s when our current Managing Director Lee Tomkins' family started the original company in the Blackdown hills.
We want our clients to be financially independent, to be able to enjoy life, to pursue goals and dreams, safe and secure in the knowledge they have someone to turn to and rely on.This is what drives us to be the best we can be.

We believe that financial products such as pensions/investments/insurance are tools to be used to achieve/maintain a lifestyle.This is why we focus on our clients first and the financial products second.

We are not a traditional firm of financial advisers. Traditional financial advice has for too long focused on the sale of financial products.We don't do this.

We focus on you, your goals/objectives/hopes/fears - What type of lifestyle you want to enjoy now and in the future.

Only then do we carry out the traditional financial adviser work of pension analysis, investment planning, mortgage services, family protection, tax and estate planning etc. (and we happen to think we are rather good at this being fully independent with many years experience and an investment philosophy backed by decades of academic, nobel prize winning research).

If you were designing a house it would be prudent to employ an architect first, then the builder.Think of us as Financial Architects.

We design a bespoke, comprehensive financial plan first (architect) and then populate the plan with suitable financial products such as pensions/investments/insurance (builder).

This ensures any products recommended fit to your overall situation and not because an investment theme/option/product seems a good idea at the time (the latter approach often leads to a "collection" of products with no common goal and inefficiences).

Once we have done this and set everything up, we offer the option to meet at least once a year to keep everything on track, to provide peace of mind that you can continue to enjoy life despite whatever the current "Apocalypse de jour" is (and there always seen to be one).

Naturally, we will monitor and ensure the continued suitability of your investments behind the scenes leaving you free to focus on the things that are important to you.
