James Mercer DIP PFS CII(MP&ER)

I have been working in the financial services industry since 2003 and during that time undertaken a variety of roles which I believe gives me a unique insight into how the services of your high street bank can differ from that of an independent financial adviser.

I believe financial security is something we are all striving for, particularly at times of economic upheaval like we are all experiencing today. However, there is often a huge gap between thinking about it and actually achieving it. It is difficult enough working out the difference between what is a safe option and a more speculative one. And then we have to weigh up our personal circumstances with other influences outside our control that might impact on our personal wealth. If we’re being honest, many of us just haven’t got the time to spare or the inclination to plan, organise and handle all the areas of our wealth management.

It is for this reason I became an independent financial adviser. I believe people need an objective, tailored and truly ‘independent’ view from an adviser whose advice is not restricted by being tied to a limited number of financial product providers.

My aim is to enable my clients to achieve financial independence. What does that mean? Well, it means that my clients get to choose what to do, when to do it and how much to spend because they had the foresight to plan ahead.

Outside of work I am married with two young daughters. I am a keen sportsman and regularly play for a local 5-aside football team and am a member of the local gym.
