History:

Home Savings and Loan is a state-chartered savings and loan organized February 6, 1888. The difference between the nation's banks and savings and loan industry is minimal with the main difference being the commercial lending done by the banks.

Although Home Savings and Loan offers a wide variety of lending products such as auto, home improvement, agricultural and personal, the main lending function remains home lending. The funds provided for these loans are received from the many local depositors who invest their savings here at Home Savings and Loan.

Home Savings has a mutual form of ownership versus stock ownership. Simply stated, this means the depositors of the company are the owners of Home Savings and Loan.

Home Savings and Loan continues to serve all of Hardin County since being chartered by the State of Ohio on February 6, 1888. The original site of the company was 112 N. Detroit St., Kenton. Later it moved to 116 N. Detroit St., where the area was served for nearly 70 years. The present building was constructed in 1965 and was remodeled in 1981 and 1987.

Starting in 1888 with only $40,000 in assets, the company now has nearly $107 million in assets with a net worth at $28,428,000.
