Collinsville Savings Society

Overview:

Collinsville Savings Society has been a vital part of the community for over 150 years. We are proud of our heritage as a community bank and proud of our dedication to provide services to every customer type, including young and growing families, professionals, seniors and businesses. We believe how we treat our customers is as important as the full range of services that we provide. We want to be your full service bank.

On January 1, 2010, Collinsville Savings Society joined Litchfield Bancorp and Northwest Community Bank as the third affiliate bank in Connecticut Mutual Holding Company. Through the holding company Collinsville Savings Society will be in a position to optimize the strengths and competitive advantages of a much larger banking group in order to better compete for your business. With combined resources Collinsville Savings Society will be better positioned to serve their customers with significantly greater loan capacity, leading edge products and services and to implement enhanced technology-based delivery systems.
History:

Collinsville Savings Society was chartered in 1853 and accepted its first deposit on August 8, of that year. In the mid-nineteenth century the village of Collinsville in the Town of Canton was a thriving industrial site. The Collins Axe Company had been founded in 1826 and was a well-established, prosperous business. Samuel W. Collins, the founder and manager of the company, wanted to encourage healthy savings habits. He felt there was a need for a safe, local place for his workmen and other townspeople to deposit their surplus cash. Mr. Collins, along with a number of other prominent men of the community, in 1853, successfully petitioned the Connecticut Legislature to authorize the establishment of a mutual savings bank in Collinsville. Thus the Collinsville Savings Society was born. Collinsville Savings Society was established as a mutual savings bank in Collinsville and has been an important part of the community for 150{+} years.

We have grown and changed with the times, but our name has never changed. In 1999 we opened our first branch in Canton on Old Albany Turnpike (Rte. 44) for the convenience of our customers. We offer up-to-date products and services from ATMs to Online Banking with old-fashioned customer service.
