History:
USAmeriBank was founded in 2007 by the Steans family. The concept: build a bank that succeeds through local decision-making, driven by bankers with deep roots in the Tampa Bay area.
The Steans are not only our lead investor, but also the leading advocates for employee ownership. We are proud to follow Harrison Steans' systematic and methodical business model that made his banks so responsive and successful for years.
USAmeriBank is an independent bank with the strength and capital to effectively serve both businesses and individuals. USAmeriBank was founded to be larger, stronger, and better prepared than other homegrown banks and more personal and nurturing than national and regional banks.
In its fifth year of existence, 2011, USAmeriBank exceeded $1 billion in assets, a testament to its success despite a challenging economic environment. Without the problem assets of many other banks, USAmeriBank has been able to focus outwardly, making business loans when opportunities arise, and finding ways to help its customers succeed both professionally and personally.
As it has grown in assets, the bank has also expanded geographically within the Tampa Bay area.
In 2010, it opened a branch in the Carrollwood area of north Tampa. And since then, USAmeriBank has opened branches in northeast St. Petersburg, in the Belleair area of Pinellas County and in the Ybor City area of Tampa.
Also, USAmeriBank grew its geographic footprint outside Florida in 2011, purchasing Alabama's Aliant Bank. Aliant traces its roots to 1900, when the bank was founded in Alexander City, Ala., by entrepreneur Benjamin Russell. Since then, Aliant has built a long record of success, with locations in Birmingham, Montgomery and Alexander City. Aliant, now a division of USAmeriBank, shares common goals with USAmeriBank, with a singular focus on growing by helping its customers grow.
In the Tampa Bay area, as USAmeriBank has grown with more branches for customer convenience, it has also grown its capabilities, building its staff in such areas as professional and executive banking, and in small business lending.
