Overview:
I believe in helping clients make an informed choice, so I explain the disadvantages, as well as the advantages of the various options my clients have and I try to do this in a way that anyone will understand, no matter how little prior experience they have. I also believe in being diligent, so when I say that I will do something, I will always try to keep that promise. Being fair and open with people is another principle to which I try to adhere, so I quote what I feel is a fair price for my work, so that it corresponds with the benefit that my clients will get from it and reflects the amount of work and skill involved and I try to be up-front about it, so that my clients can choose whether or not they wish to proceed. I am also discrete, so any private information that my clients give me remains confidential.

History:
1988 - 1998
I, worked for AXA Equity & Law in Northampton, Swansea and Birmingham. It was my job to promote the companies wares to independent financial advisers. To differentiate myself from my competitors, I became technically expert on pensions in particular. It was therefore a natural step for me to become an IFA myself.
1999-2003
Graham Paul Chartered Accountants in Bridgend was looking to expand its financial advice subsidiary and it employed me as an IFA. I benefited from learning about how accountants work and many of my clients are still introduced to me by accountants. I continue to have a good relationship with Graham Paul and look after the staff pension scheme there.
2003-2012
I joined Hedley Asset Management, initially working from offices in Fforestfach, Swansea, later moving to my current office at home, near Llandeilo. I was essentially running my own business here, with the management and staff of Hedley providing the regulatory oversight, as well as supporting me administratively.
I developed good working relationships with a number of firms of accountants who introduce their clients to me.
At the end of 2005, my wife joined me in the business. She runs my administration in the dedicated way that could perhaps only come from a family member.
Also during much of this time, I was providing a self-employed consultancy service to ValidPath Ltd. One of the main aspects of this was to visit other firms of IFAs and to check their files, to ensure that they were doing things properly. I picked up some useful ideas from the best companies that I visited.
2012 onwards
The establishment of David Gascoyne Financial Services Ltd. The regulatory oversight is now provided by ValidPath Ltd. |
