The firm maintains a continuing education program to improve staff skills, to keep members informed about the latest accounting and auditing developments and to comply with continuing education requirements.

The firm has had quality reviews performed by the federal government, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and a private auditing firm who is a member of the American Society of Certified Public Accountants. Our reviewers have complimented us for our excellent attention to detail in our workpapers.

We have continued to grow by creating a firm our clients have come to trust and rely on to meet their ever changing needs.

History:

The firm of Scanlon & Associates, CPA's, was originally organized as Thomas J. Scanlon, CPA in 1979. Our headquarters are located in South Deerfield, Massachusetts, with an additional primary office located in Paxton, Massachusetts. We offer a full range of accounting and auditing services, including municipal and non-profit auditing, and tax planning and preparation. We believe our relatively small size allows us to provide timely services in an informative and personal setting.

The firm presently has two partners and ten professional staff members. All members of the firm have performed audits of municipalities and school districts. The firm has a diverse clientele consisting of various governmental units, commercial corporations, philanthropic and social organizations and other institutions.

Three members of the firm, Thomas J. Scanlon, Jr., Daniel B. Haynes, and Jeffrey Gendron are Certified Public Accountants. Three other members of the firm are senior auditors with more than 20 years of experience. The junior auditors have at least three years of experience and two office employees are ready to assist our diverse clientele.

One of the partners has worked as a town accountant for three communities and has a good understanding of problems facing towns and can relate to the difficulties sometimes involved in working for town government.
