Overview: 

Hughes Capital Management, Inc. was founded in 1996 by Lance R. Hughes, President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Hughes was the successor to the preceding family-owned businesses involved in Real Estate and Healthcare Development in Central Texas since the 1970's. Hughes Capital Management, Inc., and related entities (collectively "HCM"), are multi-faceted development companies committed to creating high quality projects that are sustainable and appropriate as long-term investments that preserve the confidence of our end users. Each Hughes real estate development endeavors to offer a unique property presenting the owner or tenant with a well-conceived long-term match for their needs. Mr. Hughes is currently pursuing development opportunities, recognizing that conventional suburban development is not sustainable and needs to be replaced by higher density mixed-use projects that use mass transit wherever practical. The Hughes' focus is not only on creating mixed-use urban style developments, but positioning those developments to be highly sensitive to the unique features of the Central Texas environment and be proactive and sustainable with appropriate energy saving initiatives, thereby contributing to the long term ecological success of the project.

Hughes' current venture is the comprehensive development of a major tract of land in Leander, Texas that is the heart of their Transit Oriented Development (TOD). This land is adjacent to the Capital Metro site that will be the northern most stop for Capital Metro's first commuter rail line opening in 2008. Hughes believes the importance of the rail cannot be over emphasized for the long-term viability of Central Texas. Additionally, Hughes has the experience to enter into strategic partnerships that coalesces a number of skill sets to match a project's needs and create a unique team. The Leander TOD team includes Hughes, Smalling-Martin Interests and American Realty Corporation.

Other current development projects include Park Valley Oaks Medical Office development and Arbor Place single-family residential development. Mr. Hughes is also owner of Landa Property Management, a full service property management firm.

Hughes has a history of consistently developing successful projects, including South Austin Medical Condominiums, Oakwood Arbors Medical Office Park, Park Valley Oaks Medical Office Development, Key Whitman Medical Office Building, Round Rock Imaging Center (Diagnostic Radiology), and Lake Austin Marina. Additionally, through the family companies, Mr. Hughes has been heavily involved in developing the Central Texas Imaging Center, Cat Mountain Villas, and Steiner Ranch.
