History:

For over 75 years First and Citizens Bank has a history of being a hometown bank with a solid commitment to sustain our community. With the realization of the country's financial instability following the stock market's crash of 1929, two local competing banks, First National Bank of Highland and Citizens Bank of Highland merged to become: First and Citizens Bank. While the residents of Highland County and surrounding areas struggled along with the rest of the country during the Great Depression, First and Citizens Bank, was dedicated to support and sustain local farmers, businesses, and families.

Today First and Citizens Bank continues to support our local community with the same conviction. Our Board of Directors and staff live in our community and understand the importance of promoting growth while maintaining our quality of life. With every service that we provide we strive for meaningful relationships based on trust.

In a day and age when bank mergers have become commonplace, First and Citizens Bank is devoted to preserving our independence as a locally owned community bank.
