Abington Savings Bank

Mission statement:

The mission of Abington Bank is to anticipate and deliver financial products and services that meet the needs of our customers in a unique atmosphere that emphasizes personal service, professional expertise and community responsibility.

Abington Bank has been in business in suburban Philadelphia for over 140 years. We are one of the safest, best capitalized, most progressive community banks in the country. If you haven't banked with us before, we invite you to join us and discover banking the way it was meant to be.
History:

On May 13th, 1867, a group of influential residents of Abington Township met at the Phoenix Hotel, then located at the southwest corner of Old York Road and West Avenue in Jenkintown. At this meeting, the first building and loan association in Jenkintown was formed. The name Abington Building Association was decided upon because Jenkintown was a part of Abington Township at this time. It was not until 1874 that Jenkintown became a borough.

The original officers of the Association were: President, Henry M. Stewart; Vice President and Treasurer, Abel Satterthwaite; and Secretary, Charles Mathers.

More recently, we successfully completed our reorganization from a mutual savings bank to a stock savings bank in the mutual holding company form on December 16th, 2004. On April 4th, 2005, we rang the opening bell on NASDAQ's Stock Market in Times Square. Today, Abington Bank is the main operating subsidiary of Abington Bancorp, Inc.

The future of the Bank is in the combined efforts of its employees, officers and directors. Together, we are dedicated to providing our customers with a degree of excellence in service that confirms our title as the #1 Community Bank.
