Colombo Bank

Overview:

Colombo Bank was originally named Apicella Bank. It was founded in 1914 in the Little Italy section of Baltimore by Benjamin and Maryanna Apicella. The name was changed to Colombo Building and Loan Association in January 1968. Later in the 1980’s the name was changed to Colombo Savings and Loan Association. In the early 1990’s, the name became Colombo Bank. Also during the 90’s the Bank’s headquarters was relocated to Bethesda. The headquarters was moved again in 2002 to our current location in Rockville. We now have four locations, our original branch in Little Italy, one in Bethesda, one in Rockville, and one in Washington DC.

6/1/1914 Institution established. Original name: Colombo Savings And Loan Association, Inc.
12/31/1989 Changed name to The Federal Savings Bank.
12/31/1989 Changed organization type to Stock Savings Bank.
10/31/1990 Changed name to Franklin Savings Bank, F.S.B..
12/3/1993 Changed name to Colombo Savings Bank, F.S.B..
10/26/1998 Changed name to Colombo Bank.
2/19/2002 Moved bank headquarters from Baltimore, Maryland to Rockville, Maryland.
