Overview: 

Woori Bank, New York Agency is an agency of Woori Bank, Seoul, Korea ("Head Office") and is not separately incorporated legal entity. Hanvit Bank changed its brand to Woori on May 20th. 2002 to coincide the the name with the bank's holding company. According to the merge of two retail banks, The Commercial Bank of Korea, Ltd. and Hanil Bank, in January 1999, the operations of each bank's New York Agency were merged effectively on January 4, 1999.

The agency conducts general banking operations including buying, selling, paying and collecting bills, issuing letters of credit, and granting loans primarily to Korean and Korean- American business.

According to the US regulatory agencies' strong regulatory supervision and request of improvement in operational infrastructure, the agency has put an great effort to establish operation infrastructure such as loan review function, audit function, compliance function, IT function, and risk management system, which are greatly improved to U.S. banks' level.

The agency has business strategies of localizing marketing force, establishing core business sector as center for funds transfer and foreign settlement, and coordinating with other foreign banks in syndicated loans and investments. Therefore, the agency will put an best efforts to accomplish these goals, so that the bank is viewed as the highest quality, best regarded financial institution.

The Commercial Bank of Korea, Los Angeles Agency was established in January 1978, and the Hanil Bank, Los Angeles Agency was originally established in February 1978.

The Agency conducts general banking operations including buying, selling, paying and collecting bills, issuing letters of credit, and granting loans primarily to Korean and Korean- American business.

The Agency is located in the Korea town of Los Angeles, and occupies the third floor of a building owned by the Agency. The three-story building has its own parking lot and armed security. Tenants in the building include a retail bank (the Banco Popular Bank), and a securities company (the Daehan Securities, Inc.). Therefore, the various financial needs of customers can be managed at one location.

In the past, there were many Korean Bank agencies in California. Currently however, only Korea Exchange Bank, and our Agency continue to maintain operations on the West Coast. Our business remains solid despite the former economic crisis in Korea due loyal to customers, sound asset quality, and an active business strategy. At the present we have no delinquent loans.

In response to the U.S. regulatory agencies' strong regulatory supervision and their request to improve our operational infrastructure, the Agency has put forth great efforts to strengthen the loan review function, audit function, compliance function, IT function, and risk management system. These functions continue to be refined to the standards of U.S. banks.

We hope to grow with customers by give- and-take strategy. Therefore the Agency is open to any local company. Our strengths are the know-hows about Korean-American business, and one-stop service for corporate business. We specialize in collateralizing deposits and real estate in Korea, in a unique manner.
