Overview:

Over the last nineteen years, Pomona's guiding principle has been to gain the benefits of private equity investing while mitigating risk. We have maintained a focused, disciplined strategy while building the critical mass necessary to succeed in a world of large, global and complex private equity transactions.

Pomona Capital specializes in investing across the spectrum of private equity in three ways: by purchasing secondary interests in existing partnerships, by investing in new partnerships, and by co-investing alongside buyout funds in individual companies.

We purchased our first secondary interest in 1994 and today Pomona Capital is a leader in the secondary market worldwide. Our primary funds of funds business grew out of the unique vantage point we enjoy as secondary purchasers and today accounts for half of our capital under management. Pomona added a co-investment business to further leverage the experience we have in analyzing individual companies and our comprehensive set of relationships with fund managers.

Through our three businesses, we cover the full breadth of possible investments with fund general partners, while providing our investors with a complete suite of private equity investing options.

In 2000, Pomona entered into a strategic partnership with the ING Group, a global banking and insurance company based in the Netherlands. Through this relationship we gain the global reach and access to capital needed to complete investment transactions of any size while maintaining full autonomy over the operation of our business.
