Overview:

Big Switch Projects is a specialist firm working with building owners and tenants to cut their energy costs. We conduct energy efficiency reviews, NABERS ratings, and manage existing and imminent compliance obligations under the Building Energy Efficiency Disclosure Act – the Commercial Building Disclosure scheme.

We’ve been in business since 2000 and are proud to have won the City of Sydney award for Best Environmental Business in late 2009. Our core market has always been office buildings and major corporate offices while more recently we’ve also worked with the owners and operators of hotels and shopping centres, councils, universities and mid-sized manufacturers.

We work with our clients to meet their needs to cut energy costs and lift NABERS ratings.

In the past few years we’ve done ratings and energy efficiency reviews for companies including Centuria Property Funds, Abacus Property Group, DEXUS Property, Stamford Hotels and Resorts, the Commonwealth Bank, the Australian Technology Park, Suncorp, the Sydney Theatre Company, and Adelaide City Council.

We run the Business Energy Efficiency Program of the Adelaide Solar City and Blacktown Solar City in western Sydney. Both solar cities are flagship six-year Australian Government programs.

We’re independent of the suppliers of energy efficiency hardware, such as lighting systems, or software, such as energy management software. We have four NABERS Accredited Assessors on staff, one of whom is a NABERS supervisor, and they’re all trained to use the new CBD Tenancy Lighting Assessment tool. Our company is on the SA Government’s Panel of Energy Consultants. We are on the Energy Savers panel of Sustainability Advantage in NSW. We’re on the consultant’s panel for the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism. Managing Director Gavin Gilchrist is the Energy Efficiency Council representative on the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency’s NABERS Industry Advisory Committee.
