History:
The Bank of Four Oaks was chartered in June of 1912, in Four Oaks, North Carolina, with a capital investment of $10,000. B. I. Tart was the Bank’s first Cashier (executive officer) until 1927. Bert Lassiter became Cashier in 1927 and served in that role until 1970. The Bank weathered the Depression of the early 1930’s and was the 134th bank in the state allowed to open after the “Bank Holiday” in 1933. Edward Bert Lassiter became Cashier in 1970 and served until 1980. Presently, Ayden R. Lee, Jr., who joined The Bank of Four Oaks in 1980, serves as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
In 1986, the first branch office opened in Clayton, North Carolina. With plans to enter into other new markets, in 1990, the Board of Directors changed the name of The Bank of Four Oaks to Four Oaks Bank & Trust Company.
In 1991, an office was opened in Smithfield on Second St. and in 1995 on Brightleaf Boulevard. The Garner office, at Interstate 40 and Highway 42, opened in 1996, and the Benson office opened in 1997. Also in 1997, Four Oaks Fincorp, Inc., the holding company for Four Oaks Bank, was formed. The Bank’s Financial Services was created in 1999, and in 2002, the Bank’s subsidiary, Four Oaks Mortgage Company was formed.
The Bank’s first move into Wake County was the Fuquay-Varina office that opened in 2000. The Bank entered Duplin County with the opening of the Wallace office in 2002. The second Wake County office was opened in 2003, in Holly Springs, and the first Sampson County office opened in Harrells in 2005. The Bank’s first Lee County office was opened in Sanford in 2006, and a third Wake County office also opened in 2006, in Zebulon. The first Harnett County office was a loan production office that opened in Dunn in 2007, then became a full-service office early in 2008. Also in 2008, a second office was opened in Garner, and Four Oaks Bank acquired LongLeaf Community bank which added offices in Rockingham and Southern Pines.
Today, Four Oaks Bank operates seventeen offices located in eight eastern North Carolina counties. |
