History:
The First National Bank and Trust Company, was chartered in Federal Court of the State of Arkansas, and began operation as the "Citizens Bank," Chickasha, Indian Territory, Pickens County, in August 1892. T.P. Mayo was elected the first President, and F.E. Gilmore was elected the first Cashier. The Bank was the successor to the "Gilmore Bank," a private bank in existence a short time only.
By November, 1898, the Bank showed assets of $150,000.00, and capital of $50,000.00.
In 1900, the Bank became a National Bank under the name "Citizens National Bank," Chickasha, Indian Territory, showing total assets of $174,245.50.
Following statehood, in 1907, the Bank became "Citizens National Bank, Chickasha," building assets by 1925, to $935,914.26, and $1,024,791.87, by 1929.
In December, 1929, the Bank merged with the "Farmers National Bank, Chickasha," by authority of the Comptroller of the Currency, Washington, D.C., becoming "The Citizens-Farmers National Bank, Chickasha, Oklahoma," with total assets of $1,300,000.00 with a capital structure of $150,000.00.
A new Bank building opened for business in April, 1931. Still in use today, the building is a classical design of limestone and granite.
In February, 1938, the Bank's name was again changed to, "The First National Bank in Chickasha."
As of June 30, 2000 the Main Bank Building was again enlarged with a two-story addition on a 50-foot x 150-foot lot on the West side of the building to end up with 15,000 square feet in the total bank building.
Also in 2000, a new mortgage company, "First Independent Capital, Inc.", dba FICAP Mortgage, was organized and owned 100% by The First National Bank and Trust Company. FICAP currently operates from the Bank Branch at 602 Grand Avenue, Chickasha. The Bank's Online Banking Services began in 2000, www.bankFNBT.com.
In July, 2001, First American Bank of Minco was acquired and merged.
2003 brought with it the acquisition and merger of Tri-Star National Bank, along with the creation of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. The acquisition added Tuttle, Blanchard and Newcastle branches to the First National family.
In 2005, a new Drive-up ATM island was constructed in the Bridge Creek community to continue providing better service for customers in Northern Grady County.
2006 brings the Bank's donation to the City of Chickasha the old downtown drive in property. Just north of the property, in April
2007, the Bank opened the Eagle Branch drive thru at 122 North 6th Street, Chickasha.
Cyril State Bank was merged in as a branch of The First National Bank March 1, 2007.
The First Star Insurance Agency, a subsidiary of the Bank, 100% owned by First National Bank was established in 2007.
May 2009 included a new Drive-up ATM in downtown Blanchard.
In November 2009 a de novo full service branch of The First National Bank and Trust Company in the Mustang Area was opened. The exact location is Southwest 59th Street and Highway 152 (8504 SW 59th Street), east of Mustang and west of Will Rogers airport.
Presently, total assets of The First National Bank & Trust Company are $366 million and capital of $52 million. The bank continues to "Invest In Communities" and is "Servicing Its Customers" in Chickasha (main office), Alex, Rush Springs, Minco, Tuttle, Newcastle, Blanchard, Cyril, Mustang Area and their surrounding townships.
