Coronation was founded in Cape Town, South Africa in 1993. We are an investment-led, owner-managed business with staff owning 25% of the company. We are solely focussed on asset management and have a track record of delivering superior long-term returns to our clients over the past two decades. An active investment manager with a long-term valuation-driven investment approach, Coronation currently manages in excess of $41 billion in client assets (as at end-March 2016).

Our investment expertise extends across asset classes and geographies, with our longest-running strategies focused on specialist equity and multi-asset portfolios in global emerging and frontier markets.

We believe we are one of the largest and most successful managers of institutional and retail assets in southern Africa and offer both segregated and pooled investment vehicles. Our clients include pension and provident funds, medical schemes, unit trusts, banks, insurers and other fund managers. We also manage assets for a growing number of international retirement funds, endowments and family offices.

Coronation has a single investment philosophy according to which all products are managed. We are long-term, valuation-driven investors. Our portfolios are managed on an active basis constructed from the bottom up and based on extensive proprietary research.

Our investment team conducts research across the local South African market, emerging markets, global markets and frontier markets. This research provides the departure point for constructing portfolios with differing mandates, investment universes and risk tolerance. Our portfolios are often concentrated, reflecting our best investment views.
