Putnam County Savings Bank

History:

Putnam County Savings Bank was founded in 1871, in the General Store of Alexander Lobdell across from the present railroad station in Brewster, New York. Though it was originally established to serve local farmers and townsfolk, PCSB grew as more and more people left the city to make their homes and start businesses in the Lower Hudson Valley. When the Putnam Division of the Harlem Railroad was completed in 1880, the area truly blossomed and Putnam County Savings Bank became more than just a “local” institution.

PCSB quickly became known as a bank that genuinely cared about its customers and the towns where they lived. PCSB also enjoyed a reputation as a vital partner for local retailers and businesses. A new branch in Mahopac was followed by new branches in Somers and Pawling. And soon Putnam County Savings Bank could be found in Jefferson Valley, Kent and Fishkill. Overwhelming customer response lead to even more and openings in Pawling Village and Yorktown Heights. Today, we remain extremely proud of our strong commitment to Putnam, Dutchess and Westchester Counties and of our reputation for exceeding our loyal customers’ every expectation.
