When Brad Haupt, our company founder, started out selling investments in Public Storage mini warehouses in the 70’s, he was frustrated by how many potential investors told him “That sounds like a good idea Brad, let me talk to my tax guy first.” He wondered “Why is their tax guy so important that they can’t make any decisions without him?”. He decided to look into the tax consequences of investments a bit further than the basic training most brokers get, and realized it was very important, and that a broker that didn’t understand tax consequences could cause financial harm without realizing it. Brad decided that to serve his clients effectively, advisors should be experts in taxes and investing. He founded Allied Tax Planners in 1979. A company where your financial advisor and tax preparer always work seamlessly together, because they are the same person! Since then four of Brad’s sons have joined the company and strived to help individuals solve their money problems.
