Big River Ltd provides advice on legal, taxation and financial matters to its clients and specialises in helping those that are paying for long term care to organise their finances. Based in Worthing, West Sussex, the company is an appointed adviser to a range of organisations, including West Sussex County Council through its Carewise scheme and a number of charitable groups and care providers. In addition we are one of the few financial advice companies to be accredited under the Trading Standards ‘Buy With Confidence’ scheme. As part of the firm’s commitment to offering the best possible advice, Tom Scott, the firm's director and adviser has completed the Later Life Adviser Accreditation which is a nationally recognised accreditation programme for advisers specialising in the later life arena and is endorsed by the Financial Skills Partnership. He is also a supporter and member of the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA). This ‘not for profit’ organisation aims to ensure that consumers are better informed about the financial issues of later life by promoting awareness, raising standards and improving professionalism. As well as the specialist financial advice service that we offer to those who are planning and paying for their own care, we also offer investment services to individuals and organisations, especially those that are interested in ensuring that their investments conform to their own ethics, beliefs and values. Our name refers to the River Adur at Shoreham-by-Sea. We looked for a name that ties us to our Sussex locality and Big River was suggested on a train journey over the “big river” under the Adur railway bridge. We felt the name was distinctive and unlike those of any other financial advice firms. Although based in Sussex we offer advice to clients throughout the country.
