CareSource was established in 1989 to address the health care issues of low-income citizens. Founded as the Dayton Area Health Plan through a grant from the State of Ohio, CareSource grew to serve the state’s most vulnerable consumers and laid the foundation for a new model of managed health care. Today, CareSource is a leading, member-centric, regional nonprofit health plan headquartered in Dayton, Ohio. As one of the nation’s largest Medicaid managed care plans, CareSource serves more than 1.4 million consumers in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana and has a total workforce of 2,500 employees. CareSource partners with states and the federal government to increase quality, decrease costs and ensure members have access to affordable health care. Most recently, CareSource expanded the footprint of its qualified health plan CareSource Just4Me to the state of West Virginia and launched a competitive Medicare Advantage plan in Kentucky and Indiana. Building on a nationally recognized managed care model CareSource received a notice of intent to award a Medicaid managed care contract to serve consumers in the state of Georgia beginning July 2016. CareSource is living its mission to make a difference in members’ lives by improving their health and well-being. CareSource understands the challenges consumers face navigating the health system and works to put health care in reach for those it serves. CareSource is led by its founding CEO Pamela Morris.
